First Run Checklist
Use this checklist after installing Power Studio and before relying on the workstation for broadcast.
Station Identity
Confirm that the license file is installed and that Power Studio starts without license warnings. Check the configured station or database name so the workstation connects to the intended station environment.
Database And Storage
Before continuing, confirm:
- The Configuration Tool connects to the correct PostgreSQL server.
- The database update has completed successfully.
- PostgreSQL accepts connections only from
localhost, the station LAN or approved VPN addresses. - Audio folders are shared and reachable from each Power Studio computer.
- The configured audio paths match the final broadcast storage location.
- Operators do not need to load audio from personal desktop or download folders.
Audio Routing
Open the audio settings and check every output that will be used on air. Verify main players, carts, Playout Player PFL, Playlist PFL, Track Browser preview, Mix Editor playback, recorder inputs and any separate mix-minus or external-device feeds.
Use representative audio, not only a short test tone. Music, imaging and speech make level or routing mistakes easier to notice.
Users And Permissions
Create named users for presenters, producers and administrators. Avoid shared administrator accounts for daily operation. Grant access to Options and Settings only to users who are allowed to change on-air behavior.
First Content
Import a small set of representative content before importing the full library:
- Music tracks.
- Jingles and station imaging.
- Promos or spots.
- Voice track examples.
- Any macro items or static items the station uses.
Check content type, title, artist, category and timing markers on those first items. It is easier to correct the import workflow before thousands of files have been added.
First Playlist
Create a simple Clock Format and Day Format, then generate a short playlist. Review the result before enabling more advanced rules.
Check:
- The hour contains enough audio.
- Fixed items appear in the expected positions.
- Music rotation is sensible.
- Macro placeholders are available before playout.
- The next playlist loads when the hour changes.
Operational Readiness
Before the first unattended run, confirm:
- Local audio cache behavior is understood if audio is stored on a network share.
- Database backup is configured.
- For remote work, the station has chosen either Power Sync or VPN with Local Asset Cache, and that workflow has been tested.
- If Power Sync is used, the first synchronization has been started early enough and has completed before the workstation is used for a real remote session.
- Windows Update is managed for the on-air computer.
- Required plugins are enabled and unused plugins remain disabled.
- Operators know when to use Automation Mode, Live Assist Mode and Training Mode, and how to switch back to the required on-air mode.
