MIDI Control

Use the MIDI Control plugin to map MIDI notes or messages to Power Studio commands.

The plugin can control:

  • Player play, stop, cue and Playout Player PFL.
  • Cart triggers and cart stop.
  • Playlist refresh and next playlist.
  • Mix Editor play, stop, record and save.
  • Recorder play, stop and record.

Example: Korg nanoPAD2

  1. Connect the MIDI controller to Windows.
  2. Wait until Windows recognizes it as a MIDI device.
  3. Start Power Studio and log in as an administrator.
  4. Open Options and Settings > Plugins.
  5. On the general plugin settings, set cart play mode to Instant fire when using the controller for cart playback.
  6. Select Midi remote control plugin.
  7. Open Configure plugin.
  8. Select the nanoPAD2 as both MIDI input and MIDI output device.
  9. Adjust mappings if needed. The default mapping normally matches the nanoPAD2 setup.
  10. Enable the plugin.
  11. Close Power Studio and restart it.

Test all mapped buttons before using the controller during a show.

If the MIDI device is disconnected or Windows assigns it differently, re-open the plugin configuration and confirm the selected input and output devices.
