Import Blocks
Import Blocks are used when external systems provide a prepared block of items that should appear in a Power Studio playlist.
They are useful for workflows where another system decides the contents of a block, while Power Studio handles scheduling and playout.
Using Import Blocks
- Configure the import block in Options and Settings.
- Make sure the source file or service is available to the on-air computer.
- Add the block as a macro in the Clock Format.
- Generate a playlist.
- Review the placeholder and processed result.
When import blocks are used around fixed times, combine them carefully with Floating and Fill Out settings.
Import Block Settings
An import block definition contains:
- Name for the operator-facing description.
- Id used by the macro or integration.
- Artist used for the generated placeholder item where applicable.
- Block opener and Block closer when the station wants fixed items around the imported block.
- Macro duration so playlist timing has a planned length before the block is processed.
- Process macros to decide whether macros inside the imported block should be handled.
- Import type to match the external source.
Use a realistic macro duration. If the planned duration is far from the real block length, the generated playlist can look correct while the hour still drifts during playout.
After changing an import block, generate a test playlist and verify both the placeholder and the processed result.
